Upon arrival at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport (IXL) in Leh, you'll be warmly greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel for check-in. To aid your acclimatization to Ladakh's high altitude, the initial half-day is dedicated to rest, a crucial step to prevent altitude sickness. Enjoy a welcome with traditional Ladakhi butter tea (Gur Gur Chai) or coffee, and a nourishing lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon, around 3:30 PM, we'll embark on a gentle sightseeing tour, starting with the serene Shanti Stupa, offering panoramic views of Leh. Next, we'll explore the historic Leh Palace, followed by a visit to the bustling Leh Market. After the market, we'll return to the hotel for a hearty dinner and a restful overnight stay in Leh, preparing you for the adventures that lie ahead.

After a leisurely breakfast at 9:00 AM, embark on a full-day sightseeing tour of the Indus Valley, exploring the region's rich historical and cultural heritage along the banks of the Indus River, stretching approximately 50 kilometers from Leh. The journey begins with a visit to Shey Palace, located 12 kilometers southeast of Leh, and along the route to Thiksey Monastery, you'll have the opportunity to view Racho School and Sindhu Ghat. Continue to Thiksey Monastery, the largest Gelugpa sect monastery in Ladakh, just 6 kilometers from Shey. Here, enjoy lunch at the renowned Chamba Restaurant, located within the Thiksey Monastery complex, offering a delightful culinary experience amidst the serene monastic surroundings. Following lunch, proceed to Hemis Monastery, the largest Drukpa sect monastery, 26 kilometers from Thiksey. Throughout the day, your guide will provide insights into the history, art, and spiritual significance of each monastery. The sightseeing tour is expected to conclude between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM, allowing for a free evening to explore the vibrant Leh Market. Dinner will be served at the hotel, followed by an overnight stay in Leh.

To allow for adequate rest at Ladakh's high altitude, we recommend a later start. Following a hearty breakfast between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM, embark on a 120-kilometer journey from your Leh hotel to Hunder Village in the Nubra Valley. This itinerary provides ample time for both sightseeing and photography, even with a later departure. The route traverses Khardung La Pass, a formidable high-altitude pass reaching approximately 18,380 feet, offering breathtaking vistas of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. A lunch break is scheduled at a restaurant in Khardung Village en-route. Continuing the journey, immerse yourself in the region's cultural heritage with a visit to the ancient Diskit Monastery and the newly consecrated 107-foot Maitreya Buddha statue, which provides a commanding panoramic view of the valley's villages. Proceeding to Hunder Village, a short 5-kilometer drive from Diskit, you will reach the sand dunes between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM, a perfect time as midday temperatures are generally quite high. The afternoon offers a unique opportunity to experience the iconic double-humped Bactrian camels with a ride across the mesmerizing sand dunes of Hunder. As evening approaches, enjoy dinner and a tranquil overnight stay at a comfortable camp in Hunder Village, beneath the vast and starlit Nubra sky

Begin your day with a delightful breakfast at 9:00 AM, and then set off on a captivating journey to Pangong Lake via the scenic Shayok Valley. The route along the Shayok River promises enchanting views of dramatic gorges and charming villages, with ample opportunities for stunning photography. For a memorable midday meal, your guide will arrange a pleasant lunch at a reputable restaurant along the way, or, should you wish to experience local hospitality, a welcoming homestay offering authentic Ladakhi cuisine will be selected. You will arrive at the magnificent Pangong Lake between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM, where you can settle into your comfortable deluxe cottage, located directly on the bank of Pangong Lake, and immerse yourself in its awe-inspiring beauty. Allow time for relaxation and to fully appreciate the tranquility of this remarkable location. In the early evening, a leisurely walk along the lakeshore will reveal a breathtaking sunset painting the lake in vibrant colors. As night falls and the stars emerge, enjoy a delicious dinner followed by an unforgettable stargazing experience beneath the clear sky. You can anticipate a truly magical night at your deluxe cottage on Pangong Lake. Enjoy an overnight stay at Pangong Lake in your pre-booked deluxe cottage. 

Welcome to another day of extraordinary exploration in Ladakh! Today, we're venturing to Hanle, a truly special village nestled within the vast and beautiful Changthang nomadic region. After a relaxed and delightful breakfast at 9:00 AM, we'll set off on a journey that promises to be both visually stunning and culturally enriching. Imagine driving through a high-altitude cold desert plateau, a landscape that feels like another world, with the majestic Himalayas as our constant companions.

Our route will take us through Chushul, a place of historical significance along the border, offering a glimpse into the region's unique geographical and strategic context. Along the way, we'll traverse Rezangla and Tsagala, and importantly, we'll pause at the Rezang-la War Memorial. Here, we can take a moment to reflect and honor the bravery of those who served, while also capturing the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding scenery. 

Keep your eyes peeled, as along this route, you have opportunities to spot the remarkable wildlife that calls this region home. We may encounter the elusive Kiang (Tibetan wild ass), the graceful Tibetan gazelle, or even the rare Tibetan wolf. Look closely for the Red fox, the stealthy Pallas's cat, or the soaring Greater spotted eagle. Bird enthusiasts will be delighted by the chance to see the elegant Black-necked crane, the iconic Bar-headed goose, the majestic Eurasian eagle owl, or the Lesser kestrel. And don't forget to watch for the Plateau pika, the Himalayan marmot, or the Wooly hare. These are just some of the incredible creatures that may cross our path, adding an extra layer of excitement to our journey.

Given the remote nature of our journey, and to ensure you enjoy every moment without concern for finding suitable dining, we've thoughtfully arranged for a packed lunch prepared by the resort at Pangong Lake. This will allow us to maximize our time and fully immerse ourselves in the experience.

We anticipate arriving in Hanle around 5:00 PM. Upon reaching this remote village, you'll have the remarkable opportunity to visit the Hanle Observatory. Imagine gazing at the cosmos from one of the world's best locations for astronomical observation! The clear, dark skies and high altitude make it a haven for stargazers and researchers alike, and we're thrilled to share this experience with you.

After our observatory visit, we'll settle into your pre-booked homestay. This is where you'll truly experience the warmth and hospitality of the Ladakhi people. Enjoy a delicious, home-cooked dinner and, as the night sky unfolds, be sure to step outside and witness the breathtaking spectacle of the stars. 

Overnight at Hanle in Homestay

Today marks an extraordinary milestone in our journey: the ascent to Umling La, the world's highest motorable road. This is the day we realize the dream of conquering a pass that surpasses even Everest Base Camp, reaching an astounding altitude of 19,300 feet (5,883 meters).

Following an early start from Hanle, we will navigate the challenging yet breathtaking route to Umling La. The drive itself is an adventure, traversing a landscape of stark beauty and rugged terrain. As we ascend, keep a watchful eye for the remarkable wildlife that inhabits this extreme environment. We may encounter the elusive Kiang (Tibetan wild ass), the agile Tibetan gazelle, or even the rare Tibetan wolf. The Red fox and the stealthy Pallas's cat also roam these high-altitude plains. Bird enthusiasts will be delighted by the chance to spot the elegant Black-necked crane, the iconic Bar-headed goose, the soaring Greater spotted eagle, or the majestic Eurasian eagle owl. Upon reaching the summit, you will experience a sense of accomplishment and awe as you stand at this remarkable altitude. At Umling La, we will take a moment to savor the experience and capture the panoramic vistas. We will also have the opportunity to warm up with a cup of tea at the oxygen café, a welcome respite at this extreme altitude. After spending some time at the summit, we will begin our descent and return to Hanle. The journey back offers a different perspective of the landscape, and we will have the chance to reflect on the day's incredible achievement.

Upon arriving back in Hanle, we will return to our homestay. Here, you can relax and share stories of your experience at Umling La. We will enjoy a warm dinner and a comfortable overnight stay, reflecting on a day of unparalleled adventure

Today, our seventh day in Ladakh, we transition from the serene isolation of Hanle's high-altitude plains to the vibrant heart of Leh, a journey of approximately 200 km. Following a leisurely 9:00 AM breakfast, we'll begin our return, traversing the scenic Chumathang and Rupsho valleys. Our first stop is Chumathang, renowned for its geothermal activity, where we'll witness the natural hot water springs and enjoy a leisurely lunch of local cuisine. Departing Chumathang, we'll follow the picturesque banks of the Indus River, winding through a narrow gorge that reveals a tapestry of Ladakhi villages and scenic beauty. This route offers a unique perspective on the region's landscape and the intimate connection between the people and the river, culminating in Karu, 40 kilometers from Leh. We anticipate arriving in Leh between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Upon arrival, we'll check into your hotel, allowing time to relax and refresh. In the evening, explore the vibrant Leh market, a treasure trove of local handicrafts and souvenirs, perfect for memorable gifts. We'll then return to the hotel for a comfortable overnight stay  

This morning, after your final early breakfast, we'll arrange your transfer to Leh Kushok Bakula Airport, marking the end of your memorable Ladakh experience.

Recommendations for a Comfortable and Enjoyable Ladakh Tour

• Acclimatization: To ensure a smooth transition to Ladakh's high altitude, we strongly recommend prioritizing rest on your first day following your flight arrival.

• Altitude Adjustment: For optimal acclimatization during your first two days, we kindly advise refraining from smoking and alcohol consumption.

• Preparedness: For your peace of mind and in case of emergencies, we suggest carrying a portable first-aid oxygen cylinder throughout your tour.

We understand that you may wish to personalize your Ladakh adventure with optional activities. To ensure a seamless experience, please note the following:

Bactrian Camel Ride at Hunder Sand Dunes: 

• Camel ride payments are made directly at the dunes, as pre-booking is not available. Rest assured, our guide or cab driver will be happy to assist you in coordinating with the camel owners. This is because the local camel owners and their helpers may not speak fluent English. We look forward to you enjoying this unique experience. 

• The charge is Rs. 200/- for a 15-minute ride and Rs. 400/- Indian rupees for a 30-minute ride.

• Please be aware that pre-booking is not available. Payment is made directly at the sand dunes.

Cultural Dance Performance: 

• To enhance your evening experience, we can arrange a captivating cultural dance performance before dinner.

• Kindly inform us in advance if you would like to include this activity in your itinerary.

Local Attire and Other Activities: 

• Opportunities to experience local culture, such as trying on traditional Ladakhi attire, are available at tourist spots in both Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake.

• Please note that these personal expenses will be borne by you.
